Come learn the techniques that will improve your drawing skills in this 4 sessions instructed drawing class. Artist Jamie Holder will explain proportion, composition, shading and lightning, texture, and defining details that will ultimately create beautiful finished drawings. The focus will be on realistic drawing of the human figure, still life and landscape, and participants are encouraged to develop their own creativity and style. Drawing materials are provided but feel free to bring your own.
Jamie Holder studied at Art & Design High School, The Art Students League of New York and Pratt Institute. He is a fine arts painter, book covers illustrator and figure drawing instructor who also worked as a production artist for 14 years.

La Bodega Gallery is pleased to present Guilty Pleasures, an exhibition by Sarah Allen Eagen that explores the sensual, vulnerable and alienating aspects of self-representation in contemporary society. Guilty Pleasures features never-before-exhibited photographs on silk that expose the unspoken, personal moments that are mediated by digital skins and explores tenderness as it is interpreted by technology. An opening reception for the artist will be held on Friday July 20 at La Bodega Gallery (695 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY, 11215) from 7pm to 10pm.

Sara Jimenez’s “Itinerant Maladies” constructs an opportunity for the public to explore Jimenez’s imagination of what the tropics would look like if the trauma from the colonial history were absorbed and visible. There will be public programming and events of invited artists, writers, and performers throughout the exhibition.
An opening reception will be held at La Bodega Gallery on Friday, June 15th, 2018 from 7-10pm. La Bodega, located at 695 5th Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11215, is open Sundays 1-6pm and by appointment.
For La Bodega Gallery’s one year anniversary exhibition entitled “puro color” we are accepting colorful submissions from artists of color! As people of color have been historically marginalized and underrepresented within the arts, La Bodega Gallery would like to host a show which promotes the talents of artists of color who offer their unique perspectives through the use of colorful pigments.
For this open call we are inviting both emerging and established artists of color. Works can utilize any medium or style and explore a myriad of subject matter, they just must be COLORFUL.
This show will be curated by Miguel Ayuso, the founder and owner of La Bodega Studios.

The artworks selected for this exhibition use language as a device to explore social and political issues within their work. Each artist utilizes text in distinctive ways—employing different mediums, techniques and aesthetic strategies—to create a visual language reflective of their respective subject matters.

In order to gather funds for relief for Puerto Rico, Glorimar Garcia called on artists to create small original works of art on salvaged baseball cards. The exhibition is on display January 19th and 20th. Opening reception Friday, January 19th at 7pm.
