Opening Reception: "Itinerant Maladies" a solo exhibition by Sara Jimenez, curated by Oshun Layne

Sara Jimenez’s “Itinerant Maladies” constructs an opportunity for the public to explore Jimenez’s imagination of what the tropics would look like if the trauma from the colonial history were absorbed and visible. There will be public programming and events of invited artists, writers, and performers throughout the exhibition.

An opening reception will be held at La Bodega Gallery on Friday, June 15th, 2018 from 7-10pm. La Bodega, located at 695 5th Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11215, is open Sundays 1-6pm and by appointment.

OPENING RECEPTION: puro color / One year anniversary celebration

For La Bodega Gallery’s one year anniversary exhibition entitled “puro color” we are accepting colorful submissions from artists of color! As people of color have been historically marginalized and underrepresented within the arts, La Bodega Gallery would like to host a show which promotes the talents of artists of color who offer their unique perspectives through the use of colorful pigments.
For this open call we are inviting both emerging and established artists of color. Works can utilize any medium or style and explore a myriad of subject matter, they just must be COLORFUL.

This show will be curated by Miguel Ayuso, the founder and owner of La Bodega Studios.
